Thanks to everyone from JCAN-MA who attended the Jews Against ICE protest on February 11 in Burlington!

According to co-president Matt Liebman:

“There were approximately 1,000 people at the protest, and about one third were with the Jews Against ICE. The list of speakers included the organizers from the Lexington-Burlington area as well as churches and synagogues, Rabbi Susan Abramson from nearby Temple Shalom Emeth in Burlington, and a representative from JALSA. One of the speakers described the conditions inside the ICE building, and said that ICE is illegally detaining people. The conditions sound horrific, almost like concentration camps. One person said that while he doesn’t like to make comparisons to Nazis, unfortunately this one is appropriate.

“There were very loud pro-ICE people, and the police requested that we stay away from them. One of our speakers cautioned us to stay away. DNE! (Do not engage). [Good advice at all protests.]

“Cantor Vera from Beth El Sudbury led us in singing Olam Chesed Yibaneh (Menachem Creditor song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHp-jcPlKIY). Finished with three people sounding the Shofar, Tikeah!”
