Confronting the existential crisis of global climate change is our ultimate task of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. Together we must take responsibility to slow climate change, limit its eventual scope, address climate injustice, and preserve the livability of this Earth for generations to come. JCAN was formed in 2013 to stimulate and support climate action in the Boston Jewish community, throughout Massachusetts and New England, and across our country.

Jewish Climate Action Network-MA seeks to:

  1. Sound out an urgent and visionary Jewish voice on the crisis of climate change.
  2. Build relationships with environmental and justice leaders and activists in Jewish and other communal organizations.
  3. Inspire and mobilize Jewish communities to undertake leadership, take action and participate in bold climate campaign.
  4. Develop and broadcast information and resources to our allies in the fight to protect our Earth.

The Jewish Climate Action Network – MA holds monthly leadership meetings throughout the year. The meetings are open to everyone and are held in synagogues around the Boston area or online via Zoom. Discussions are rich and varied, and lead toward both individual and communal actions. JCAN-MA’s areas of action include energy reduction, renewable energy, divestment, best practices in soil management and domestic agriculture, green transportation, climate change activism and advocacy, both for the synagogue facility and congregants’ households.
