Join Us for a Week of Reflection and a Night of Celebration on Zoom

Eight nights to celebrate the abundance we have today–and to reflect on how conservation and preservation of our one earth is so important for future generations

The miracle that a small amount of oil lasted eight nights reminds both the Jewish people and the rest of the world that there have been many times throughout our history during which we had to make do with very little by way of natural resources and material comforts. However, our perseverance and faith have allowed us to both survive and thrive.

We ask that you reflect on what Chanukah means to you. Is it a time to celebrate abundance? Is it a reminder of the importance of conservation and preservation? What are some other themes you’ve seen in the holiday and the story of the Maccabean Revolt? What do we do with those insights?

We’ll share submissions throughout the week of Chanukah, then meet on Zoom on December 18 at 7 PM. Our program will include our founder, Rabbi Katy Allen, playwright and novelist, long-time member Thea Iberall, and the works of playwright and storyteller Judith Black.

Please try to keep submissions to under 400 words. We will also accept photos and videos. We’ll be sharing the reflections on our website during the Chanukah holiday.
