Rare earth materials play a crucial role in solar panels and electric vehicles. These materials possess unique properties that optimize the absorption and conversion of sunlight into electricity. All essential for electrification and decarbonization–but where are the rare earth materials coming from? What is being taken, and how does it impact the sites it’s taken from? More importantly, how does it impact the people? Is there a way to mine without creating new sacrifice zones?
