When our AC system was dying last year and we were talking with Chaves Heating/Oil, they didn’t mention a dual heat pump system. My sister, Ellen, from Mass Energize, convinced me to consider a dual heat/electric pump that uses electricity until the temperature gets to a certain point and then if needed gas will kick in. This means that we will mostly be using electricity except on the really hot days. Steve Breit of Beth El came over and helped us run through the numbers and tease out the benefits of one system over another, prioritizing what is important to us most and then we decided. Our new dual heat/AC pump gets installed next week just in time for the summer heat. I am grateful to Mass Energize for all the resources they have available to help us make these types of decisions because it is challenging to try to sift through all the choices.
